I finished my M.Ed. in Health Education and Health Promotion in 2008 and have yet to find a job in the field. I have been considering starting my own business as a Health Consultant. Any suggestions on how to get started?

Hello I have been an Exercise Physiologist for twenty years with a very diverse background. I managed my own wellness center in a Hospital creating exercise prescriptions for post cardiac,post physical therapy,sports medicine, the staff, and the general community. Other responsiblities were to immediate and future goals and promotions for the facility. Also, I have taken eighteen years of hatha,power, gyrokinesis, and tai chi yoga. I feel the confidence and intelligence in my field will bring a future wellness center and others in that corporation a healthy lifestyle.

Your degree automatically qualifies you become a Health Consultant. Incorporate yourself and start your own business as a Health Consultant. You may find it rewarding to be your own C.E.O. Sometimes we spend precious time looking in all the wrong places, when the answers to our problems lie within us. You have the knowledge so cultivate your own abilities. If you develop you own business it may not be neccessary to look for employment. I wish you well in your endeavors to find employment.

I am sorry to tell you but I feel that this field is hurting in all locations. It is one of the first things to be cut during a budget crisis. I graduated 2 years ago and still have not found a job in the public health/health promotion field. Good Luck!

I am a freelance writer and blogger on wellness topics and am two classes away from an MS in health promotion. Although I have substantial experience in health education, I am having difficulty finding employment in the field in the Atlanta area. Does anyone have suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated!
